After graduating from Ege University, Faculty of Medicine in 1984, he started to work as an assistant in the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Faculty of Medicine of the same University in 1989 and received the titles of Radiation Oncology Specialist in 1994, Associate Professor in 1998, and Professor in 2004. He is currently working at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology.

He was an observer at the Rochester Mayo Clinic in the United States in 1999.

He was elected as a Board Member of the Turkish Radiation Oncology Association (TROD) in 2006, became a member of the TROD Examination Commission in 2007, and the President of the TROD Examination Commission in 2009.

He was elected as the President of the TROD Thoracic Oncology Working Group in 2012, as the President of the Turkish Oncology Group (TOG) Urological Tumors Working Group in 2008, and in the elections of TROD on December 22, 2012, as the President of the Association for the term 2014-2016.

He was a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) - Cancer Working Group between 2013-2017. He is the Head of the Radiation Oncology Curriculum Committee of the Medical Specialty Board (TUK).

Member of international and national professional associations such as Turkish Radiation Oncology Association (TROD), Turkish Lung Cancer Association, Turkish Oncology Group (TOG), Izmir Breast Diseases Association, such as ESTRO, ASTRO.

He served in more than 30 national and international congresses and course organizing boards, 8th National Oncological Research Workshop (2012), 12th National Radiation Oncology Congress (UROK) (2016), 5th Interdisciplinary Urooncology Congress (2016), 22. He served as the President of the National Cancer Congress (UKK) (2017).

He has around 150 national and international publications.
